Cheerleaders Censored Wrong Breast Cancer T-Shirts
Administrators at Gilbert High School in Gilbert, Arizona believed that pink t-shirts for Cheerleaders because of the inappropriate slogan. The t-shirts were meant to raise money for breast cancer research. The t- shirts speak the slogan “Feel for lumps, save your bumps,”
The Cheerleaders would have planned to wear these inappropriate t-shirts during the school’s football games while performing cheers on the field and collecting charity from the crowd.
Gaylee Skowronek, the club president, informed the Arizona Republic that the administration supported the squad’s plan to collect charity funds. Later the school’s principal, J. Charles Santa Cruz, pointed out the slogan on the shirts as inappropriate and banned the costume for cheerleaders.
Ashlee, 16, a member of the squad said “We thought the shirt was age-appropriate,” Skowronek said.
“I think it’s hypocritical they would approve a fundraiser for breast-cancer research but they won’t approve a shirt to bring awareness to breast cancer.”
“All we want to do is support the cause and raise money for breast-cancer research,”
These edgy messages have already caused a whip on raising funds for breast cancer research. The Keep a Breast Foundation is already making bracelets and t-shirts that display the slogan “I [heart] Boobies” and distribute among the young people with the objective of raising breast cancer awareness. Many school districts across the U.S. have already banned the bracelets. Although a federal judge in Pennsylvania decided that public school students have rights to wear these inappropriate bracelets.
